Kim gained widespread recognition for his compelling portrayal of Bidam, a Silla politician, in the historical drama "Queen Seondeok" (2009), which marked his breakthrough role. Over the years, Kim has demonstrated remarkable versatility, starring in a range of genres from period dramas like "Portrait of a Beauty" (2008) to adventure films such as "The Pirates" (2014) and the disaster blockbuster "Pandora" (2016). His talent further shone through in the crime thriller "Memoir of a Murderer" (2017) and the popular television series "The Fiery Priest" (2019).
