Kwon Hae-hyo

Kwon Hae-hyo is a prominent South Korean actor and activist, born on November 6, 1965. He entered Hanyang University during a tumultuous time in South Korea, marked by student protests against the military regime of Chun Doo-hwan. Although he faced financial challenges after his father's retirement as an army colonel, Kwon focused on his studies to secure scholarships. Kwon made his acting debut in 1990 with the play "The Good Woman of Setzuan." Over the years, he has built a diverse career that includes work in theater, television dramas, and films. Despite facing setbacks, such as failing the talent audition for major broadcasting networks in 1991, Kwon's commitment to the performing arts remained unwavering. He has also played an active role in social activism, participating in various movements aimed at promoting political and social justice, including the Unite Our People Movement Headquarters and the Cultural Alliance for Peace at Daechuri. Since 2004, he has served as a host for the Seoul Independent Film Festival, further solidifying his influence in both the arts and activism.
