What it does

WOWPASS is an all-in-one prepaid card designed specifically for foreign travelers in Korea. It combines a currency exchange card, a T-money transit card, and a payment card into a single physical card controlled through a mobile app. Travelers load Korean won onto the card at competitive exchange rates via WOW Exchange machines found at airports, subway stations, and tourist hotspots. The card works everywhere that accepts regular debit or T-money payments — convenience stores, restaurants, subway gates, taxis, and vending machines. The companion app tracks balances in your home currency, shows transaction history, locks the card if lost, and locates nearby reload machines.

How to install

  3. 3Locate a WOW Exchange machine at Incheon Airport arrivals hall, a major subway station, or Myeongdong.
  4. 4At the machine, select your language, insert cash (KRW or foreign bills), and collect your WOWPASS card.

Basic usage

  • Tap the T-money symbol on the card reader when entering and exiting subway gates — the fare is deducted from your WOWPASS balance automatically.
  • Swipe or insert the card like any debit card at restaurants, convenience stores, and taxis.
  • Check your remaining balance and recent transactions in the app; balances display in both KRW and your home currency.
  • If your balance runs low, find the nearest WOW Exchange machine on the app's map and reload with Korean won.

Tips for foreign travelers

  • Load a few days' worth of spending at once at the airport machine — the line at Myeongdong machines can be long on weekends.
  • Keep your card linked in the app even if you lose it — the balance is recoverable at any machine with the same phone number.
