Gong Yoo (Hangul: 공유) is a South Korean actor known for his diverse roles in television and film. He began his career as a VJ before making his acting debut in school dramas and films, quickly gaining prominence with leading roles in popular series such as Hello My Teacher and One Fine Day. His portrayal of a cafe manager who falls in love with a girl disguised as a man in the romantic comedy The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince cemented his reputation as a leading man in dramas, turning him into a regional star. After completing his mandatory two-year military service, Gong Yoo returned to the screen with the romantic comedy Finding Mr Destiny and the film Silenced, which he initiated after reading the true story of deaf students facing exploitation in a South Korean special school. In 2013, he played a North Korean agent in the action film The Suspect. Although his post-military television comeback, Big, did not achieve the expected success, Gong Yoo experienced a career resurgence in 2016 with the box office hits Train to Busan and Age of Shadows, along with his role in the highly popular cable drama Goblin.

He made his acting debut in 1999 in an MBC single-episode drama. The PD of the drama saw him, and proceed to cast him in the teen drama "School 2". He started to gain recognition with his performance in "School 3". He enlisted in the military in August 2009, serving under the National Defense Public Relations Service.
