Although it is not as large as the nearby Suyu Market, it is quite big for a neighborhood market. It sells vegetables and side dishes at affordable prices and is a charming market with an old-fashioned atmosphere. It is also famous as the setting for the drama *Reply 1988*.
This traditional market is located right outside the Ssangmun subway station entrance. It's believed to have become active about 30 years ago. The market isn't particularly large, and it doesn't offer a large selection of items, making it a typical neighborhood alley market. It's primarily focused on food. There's no parking, so please don't drive. Based on the Reply 1988 sign, the alleys to the north and south are primarily food alleys, while markets are located to the east and west. Recently, road and signage improvements have been made to the north and south alleys, making them relatively clean.
It is crowded on weekends and parking is difficult, but there are various shops and prices are affordable. It probably wouldn't be very appealing to young people.
It's not large, but it's well-stocked. There are many side dish shops, fish shops, and fresh and simple food restaurants.
The market atmosphere is nice, especially the fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. However, I went to the butcher shop to buy meat for beef rib soup, and I didn't feel good even after buying it from the woman who seemed to be the owner. After I bought it, I realized there were many friendly butcher shops nearby.
