Amazing noodles. I ordered the plain noodle soup and my husband had the spicy mixed noodles. The texture of the noodles were perfect for the preparation. We loved the chewy texture of the mixed noodle and the richness of the broth for the soup noodles. The pork belly was perfect - and not too rich and was a great side dish for the noodles. The place had a very comfortable atmosphere and very quick services.
The best noodle I've ever had! Food is amazingly cheap but the quality of food is even more amazing. It is really hidden area but once you get to find that place, you will be visiting there again and again. I had 비빔 칼국수 and 수육.
Fantastic reasonable price for Kalguksu and Boiled pork(sooyuk). Strongly recommended to visit. However foreigners may be difficult to order.
#Chungcheongnam-do #Daejeon #Kimhwa Kalguksu "A Most Popular Tourist Restaurant" One of the best restaurants near Daejeon Station is . Known for its over 60 years of history, it's a first-generation kalguksu restaurant that contributed to Daejeon becoming a mecca for kalguksu. It's particularly famous for its local kalguksu, having been in business for many years in the herbal medicine street near Daejeon Station. #Unexpected I decided to grab a quick bowl of kalguksu while I was in Daejeon, but there was a considerable wait in front of the restaurant. It was unexpected, but since I was dining alone, I only had to wait about five minutes and was able to get in quickly. Another unexpected thing: the shoes. You have to take your shoes off before entering. #Price Even for the price, I can't beat this place. The kalguksu comes in a large bowl and is generous, at 6,000 won. The boiled pork is also available in small portions, at 10,000 won. These days, many places even offer cold noodles for 16,000 won, but here, you can enjoy a filling meal of kalguksu (noodles) and boiled pork for that price. #Boiled pork This place seems to be all about boiled pork. When you sit down, lettuce wraps are served as a basic side dish. The boiled pork is pork belly, and the skin and fat are savory. However, the lean meat is dry. Compared to the best boiled pork in Daejeon, this place is quite disappointing. The meat is pre-sliced, so it's dry and not very hot. It's so dry that you have to wrap it in lettuce wraps and rely on salted shrimp. I can't quite figure out why it's so famous, but judging by the reviews, it seems to vary widely. Consistency is a skill, and this place is a master of it. #Kalguksu Fortunately, as a kalguksu restaurant, the kalguksu is delicious. The rich anchovy-based broth mixes with the flour, creating a light and smooth texture. This restaurant's signature dish is the generous topping of deulkkae (Korean lettuce) here. It's light and refreshing, reminiscent of deulkkae kalguksu (Korean noodles with deulkkae), and the thick broth is exquisite. The noodles are hand-cut with a knife, giving them a nice texture, and the thin, bumpy noodles have a wonderful texture. Thank goodness. #Recycling Food items that can be recycled from restaurants include lettuce wraps, whole garlic, and unpeeled fruit. However, they must be rinsed under running water before serving. Since I'm sitting in front of the kitchen, I can witness this process. They collect the lettuce wraps, garlic, and onions separately. As long as you wash the lettuce wraps before serving them, there's no problem. However, I understand that whole garlic and sliced raw onions are ingredients that customers touch with their chopsticks, so they can't be recycled. I only saw them collected, not served, so it's hard to say for sure, but I hope they don't do anything illegal. So for now, I'll give it a rating of 1...
Just basic kalguksu ♥️6,000 won♥️ What a surprising price! The price is cheap, but the taste is definitely not cheap~ The system seems well-organized, and the owner and staff are all friendly~ Next time, I plan to go back to try the bibim and boiled pork!
